    Owens Corning offers a wide range of glass mats to be used as facers for acoustical ceiling tiles. Our facers can be used on ceiling panels made from glass wool, mineral wool, wet felt, wood fibers and gypsum.

    Our production process allows us to produce glass non-wovens with an optimum fiber distribution which meets the highest aesthetic requirements of the industry.

    In addition to aesthetic requirements, the company has developed a wide range of products to meet the most demanding acoustical and fire retardant applications. We also offer our customers the possibility to develop tailor-made painted non-wovens which can be directly laminated to the ceiling tile base board.

  • Flooring - Cushioned Vinyl

    Cushioned vinyl flooring, also known as resilient flooring, incorporates fiberglass non-woven mats. The product is commonly used in Western and Eastern Europe and is being introduced into the N.A. market for both residential and commercial applications.

    Cushioned vinyl offers benefits such as ease of cleaning, faster installation and a softer and quieter surface. The flooring is made in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

    The key to the construction of a cushioned vinyl floor is the fiberglass non-woven core which provides strength, tear resistance and dimensional stability. With 70 years of fiberglass experience, Owens Corning is a leader in the production of products designed specifically for the needs of our customers.

  • Carpet Tiles

    Contractor-grade tiles are used to cover large open floor areas for commercial use and sometimes for domestic Do-It-Yourself applications. Most are manufactured with a secondary-backing layer of veil in a PVC or bitumen or PE/PP substrate. Owens Corning engineers glass veil for use in this tile manufacturing operation that provides dimensional stability and lifetime cost advantages.

  • Roofing

    As a leading pioneer, we revolutionized the roofing industry with the use of fiberglass technology and non-woven media in various roofing applications; helping to shed the deficiencies of organic felt-based roofing membranes while offering an economical solution to higher-end roofing membranes. Our commercial and residential roofing mat technologies provide products to various roofing markets ranging from three tab and laminated shingles, base, cap and low slope roofing applications.

  • Gypsum Wall Board

    Owens Corning is transforming the gypsum board market with the introduction of new value-added glass mats and coated mats which are replacing traditional paper-faced gypsum boards. Coated fiberglass gypsum products are used for roofing, exterior, and interior building applications. In 2006, demand in North America for gypsum board exceeded 39 billion square feet and is projected to grow to more than 42 billion square feet by 2011.

    The key attribute of glass based gypsum board is that it greatly reduces issues with mold/mildew and insect infestations due to the lack of organic material that serves as a potential food source. In addition, coated fiberglass gypsum offers superior weather resistance allowing for extended exposure warranties.

    Owens Corning leverages proven technology in glass fiber and glass mat manufacturing with novel coating formulations to improve product performance while reducing basis weight and cost.

  • Insulation Facers

    Owens Corning today offers a wide range glass non-woven facings used in a wide variety of insulation products. These facings are tailor made to fit our customer's processes and market offerings.

    Insulation faced with glass non-wovens offers improved tensile strength, comfort during handling, aesthetics and contributes to the fire retardant properties of the product. In some applications such as duct board or duct liner, we also produce a high quality black colored non-woven which helps to conceal the fibers in the board and liner.

    For rigid and foamed insulation boards made with phenol, polyurethane (PUR/PIR) and polystyrene, we have developed a series of glass non-wovens, meeting the highest requirements of the market.

    Our products help to reinforce rigid insulation by improving the dimensional stability of the boards up to the highest thickness. Our non-wovens in combination with different binder systems results in a strong adhesion to different types of foam systems used throughout the industry.

    Owens Corning also produces a mineral coated glass facer which helps improve dimensional stability while maintaining good fire performance of the finished insulation product. The quality of the base mat in combination with our coating expertise results in facers which are problem free when processing.

  • Wall Covering

    Owens Corning offers a wide range of glass tissues for wall covering applications

    From their initial introduction as a technical solution for reinforcing mineral walls, glass non-wovens have grown to a modern and fashionable wall covering material.

    Owens Corning specialty glass non-wovens are ideally suited to match the technical and aesthetical requirements of builders, painters, architects and the end-user.

    In their introduction into the wall covering market, the use of glass tissues was mainly driven by their capability to reinforce mineral walls, to cover cracks in the plaster layer, or to limit the development of cracks. An additional positive side effect of using glass non-wovens as wall covering material is related to the improvement in fire performance they can bring.

    Over the last couple of years, glass non-wovens were still mainly used because of their technical advantages, but increasingly, architects and consumers are realizing the aesthetical advantages this solution brings to the wall: smooth surfaces with a very fine structure - pleasing to the eye, robust and enduring.

    Specialty non-wovens are specifically well-suited to match the needs of the wall covering market. Our proprietary manufacturing technology leads to a very fine, smooth, and uniform structure of our non-wovens – highly aesthetic and, due to the wide range of our portfolio – fulfilling the vast majority of technical requirements.
