History

Owens Corning started its non-woven business in 1979, when it built its first non-woven line in Aiken, S.C.

In 1982, Owens Corning established its manufacturing presence in Europe, acquiring a facility in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, and later in the ‘80s in Liversedge, U.K. Also in the 1980s, Owens Corning expanded its manufacturing footprint in the U.S. by building a manufacturing plant in Fort Smith, Ark.

In 2005, the company installed a coating line at its Aiken facility to leverage its coating expertise.

In November 2007, Owens Corning completed the acquisition of the Saint-Gobain reinforcement and composite fabrics business, creating OCV™ Reinforcements and OCV™ Technical Fabrics, both worldwide leaders in the glass fibers reinforcement industry. The non-woven business, as part of the Owens Corning family, was then renamed OCV™ Non-Woven Technologies.
